Food And Nutrition

what-is-nutrition

Nutrition is defined by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as “Nutrition is the intake of food, considered in relation to the body’s dietary needs. Good nutrition – an adequate, well balanced diet combined with regular physical activity – is a cornerstone of good health. Poor nutrition can lead to reduced immunity, increased susceptibility to disease, impaired physical and mental development, and reduced productivity.”

Wellness is being actively aware of and making decisions towards living a healthy and fulfilling life. According to The World Health Organization, wellness is “…. a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” The National Wellness Institute defines it as “a conscious, self-directed and evolving process of achieving full potential.” Wellness, like well-being, is a dynamic process of change and growth, and food has a major contribution to make to this process. This confirms the popular sayings “you are what you eat.”

For us, food does not only need to look and taste good the same way all the time, it also means continuous process of review and improvements, not only in tastes but also in quality in order to continue to maintain high standards of cooking, presentation and enjoyment. Eating is more than flavour and taste. It is about visual appeal, maximizing enjoyment and experience. We believe food should be part of well-being and sustainable living.

Eating well is not only about taste and enjoyment but should also be part of promoting good lifestyle and well-being. We are passionate about using food to communicate the importance of healthy lifestyle and sustainable eating. It is not uncommon for people to refer to healthy eating as maintaining strict dietary regimes that deprive you of good food. This is not what healthy eating is about. It is about awareness and eating food that make you feel great and give you more energy and vitality, both physically and mentally.

According to Ann Wigmore, “The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison”
